“La Chartreuse du Val Saint Esprit”, one of the most elegant historic residences of the 14th century, was originally part of a prestigious network of monastic communities of the Artois region, established by Saint Bruno in the 11th century, founder of the order of Carthusian monks, whose heritage is ever-present in the area’s daily life and in particular in the quiet, refined hospitality of the ‘Chartreuse’.
The fervour and dedication of the monks attracted many esteemed guests to ‘Val Saint Esprit’, from Marguerite of Flanders to Isabelle of Portugal and Philippe le Bon, to name but a few.
